How do you feel about the most corrupt Supreme Court in history trying to turn America into a Handmaid's Tale?
Dobbs v. Jackson; One year later
Calling this Supreme Court corrupt is like calling Victor Wembanyama tall. Wembanyama, the NBA's number one pick this year stands 7'5" and makes tall guys look short.
If there was any shame left among Republicans, the Federalist Society or the lying liars on the highest court in the land, they'd be embarrassed that this Supreme Court is the face of American jurisprudence around the world.
They actually make George Santos look like an honorable man.
Brett Kavanaugh, to whom I have referred in this column as Judge Rapey VonBeerguzzler, is a rapist. It doesn't matter if he only attempted that one rape, where his buddy, Mark Judge stood guard at the door while he put his hand over Christine Blasey Ford's mouth and tried to remove her bathing suit.
We know that wasn’t an isolated incident and we might have heard from more accusers if the FBI had not been told to stand down during their investigation.
Either way, it clearly underscores his attitude towards women.
Jet-setting Clarence Thomas, whom we've discussed here at length is the poster boy for corruption, bribery, misogyny and an antediluvian mind.
John Roberts is a guy doing a poor job of walking the line. While his wife raked in millions providing lawyers to firms appearing before the Supreme Court, Roberts struggled with neutrality, but held firm to his overzealous anti-abortion agenda.
Sam Alito is another of the court's dullards. With the reactionary tendencies of Antonin Scalia but only half the wit, he's penned some of the most ridiculous opinions ever issued from the high court.
Alito’s anti-abortion edict actually cited a 17th Century jurist who routinely condemned witches to death and championed the misconception that a husband can not be accused of rape by his wife.
For obvious reasons, Alito thinks corporations should be able to make secret contributions and that challenges to voting laws can not be made on the basis that they affect some minorities (Blacks and browns) more than others (Whites).
It's not just the men, either. Amy Coney Barrett belongs to some weird fundamental Christian cult called People of Praise, as well as the backward thinking Federalist Society.
On the 7th Circuit Court, Barrett ruled not only against abortion, but in favor of men accused of sexual assault.
It's almost a modern miracle that so many half-witted, backward thinking, small-minded, corrupt, religious zealots could wind up with lifetime, non-elected positions on a 9-person court.
Even before Moscow Mitch stole two Supreme Court nominations (one from President Obama, one from President Biden) and packed the court with Federalist Society bots, SCOTUS was able to squeeze out a mind-boggling decision in 2013 to gut the Voting Rights Act of 1965 on the basis that elections now take place in a post-racial environment.
We need defined and enforced term limits for these guys. A president can only serve for eight years, why should it be different for federal judges?
There's also got to be a congressionally enforced code of ethics for these ne'er do wells. How many judges do we want in the pockets of Nazi billionaires?
Finally, let’s put four more judges on the Supreme Court. Two would be good, but four would be better. Call it packing the court if you want, but that ship sailed with the placements of Gorsuch, Barrett and Rapey VonBeerguzzler.
Maybe the nine judge panel served us well (or not-so-well), but times are different and the court needs to change, especially in such a conflicted, tribal nation as ours.
Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed without a single Democratic vote and by a slim Republican majority that represents less than 40% of America's voices.
Until we can get a better balance, Judge Barrett should be required to serve in a red frock with a vision-limiting hat.
Then again, it doesn't really seem like any of those radical Right judges need external devices to limit their vision.
